Heavy rainfall continues to disrupt humanitarian response efforts in Nepal following flash floods.

Key developments

Continuous heavy rainfall between September 24 and 28 hampered humanitarian response activities. The Logistics and Telecommunications Cluster has been active for one month, supporting 77 partners, holding nine coordination meetings, and publishing 30 information management products. Over 1,400 cubic meters of cargo have been received for storage, and more than 460 metric tons of cargo have been transported.

Key concerns

The ongoing heavy rainfall poses a significant challenge to the delivery of humanitarian aid and the ability of affected populations to move to safer areas. Damage to critical infrastructure, including water schemes, health facilities, and schools, further complicates response efforts.

Humanitarian impact

Flash floods on August 26 affected over 84,000 people, including more than 32,000 children and 1,800 persons with disabilities. The floods destroyed or damaged 64 water schemes, 10,000 toilets, 7 health facilities, and 23 schools, impacting access to essential services.

Information gaps

The specific impact of the recent heavy rainfall on displacement figures and the current status of affected populations is not yet covered in recent reporting.
