2026-09-24Logistics operations continue to deliver humanitarian cargo to flood-affected areas in Nepal, despite significant infrastructure damage.
The Logistics and Telecommunications Cluster facilitated the transport of 188.9 metric tons of humanitarian cargo, including 65.5 metric tons via helicopter, to areas impacted by recent floods. International partners reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening primary healthcare through midwifery. The Government of Japan contributed USD 1 million to support WFP's emergency flood response.
Many communities remain cut off due to destroyed bridges and roads, with some areas only accessible by helicopter. The one reopened route into Rasuwa is narrow and barely passable, hindering humanitarian access.
An estimated 32,960 people have been directly affected by the floods, with needs concentrated in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha districts. Thousands of children continue to experience disruptions to their education one month after the floods.
Specific details on the number of schools damaged or destroyed are not yet covered in recent reporting.
